Girls Impact the World Film Festival- connecther.org/gitw Lila will be accompanied by one of the winning filmmakers, who will share their short film (3-5 minutes). The goal of the festival is to tell stories about girls and women that raise awareness, envision in film the possibilities of our time for females globally, and propose solutions, all the while providing the young adult voice an outlet in a compelling medium.

Camonghne was featured on HBOʼs Brave New Voices as a member of the Urban Word 2010 team, who became the 2010 National Brave New Voices Champions. She is a two time New York Knicks Poetry Slam Finalist and the 1st Runner-Up of the 2010 NYC Youth Poet Laureate Program. In 2011 she was the 17th ranked poet in the world.

THEATER: Maria Aponte
Maria is a poet, performance artist, and playwright who has worked extensively in Latino Theatre and in video productions that deal with racial discrimination, and womenʼs rights in theatre and film. In April 2010, Maria received the Vagina Warrior Award, a special recognition from the Eve Ensler Organization for “someone who has suffered or witnessed violence, grieved it, transformed it, and then does extraordinary work to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else in their community.”

A New Yorker and the child of an Italian mother and an Egyptian father her diverse perspective has prompted her to take on issues such as war, relationship abuse, womenʼs rights, culture, religion and the wide realm of human emotion. Her contemporary pop style also incorporates the rich sounds of her Mediterranean culture.
Katina Andoniadis
Program Moderator
Katina Andoniadis has worked as a playwright, performer, theatre director, as well as performed with professional comedy troupe, Human Comedy, and theatre company, Eugene Chamber Theatre. Katina also co-founded the non-profit, Impact! Arts, an arts immersion alternative high school and performing arts program. Impact! Arts worked with many prevention and treatment programs throughout the Eugene, Oregon community.
With 20+ years of experience, Katina focuses on working with students of all ages and challenges including; formally incarcerated; mental health clients; and war veterans.
Katina now combines counseling strategies with comedy improv in her Laughing Matters workshops. Laughing Matters provides a dynamic, strength-based process that utilizes laughter as a healing modality.
