Therapeutic milk is for use in the dietetic treatment of severe malnutrition. Nutrition supplies constitute an important part of the nutrition response for women and children. These supplies consist of specific therapeutic food and other supplies for therapeutic feeding centers, as well as for supplementary feeding interventions.
It should be used in accordance with the recommendations of doctors and nutritionists.
This product contains all the nutrients necessary in the treatment of severe malnutrition; therefore it is recommended not to add anything else.
For severely malnourished children, it is advisable to start treatment with F-75 therapeutic milk, which has a lower protein and sodium content. If F-75 therapeutic milk is not available, and in order to reduce the risk of diarrhoea, it is advisable to use slightly diluted F-100 therapeutic milk, (one sachet diluted with 3 litres of water, instead of 2) and to give 135 ml / Kg /day.
